Developing formative assessment in a kindergarten: action research

This thesis addresses the issue of formative assessment in the kindergarten environment, aiming to systematize the application of formative assessment techniques and tools in preschool educationand enhance cooperationwith parents. The theoretical part delineates the development of children's identity, the significance of self-concept in preschool, and its alignment with the Framework Curriculum for Preschool Education. It also explores motivation, assessment, potential formative assessment techniques for preschool education, and underscores the importance of formative assessment in the Strategy for Education Policy of the Czech Republic 2030+. The final chapter delves into cooperation with parents and its contribution to children's education. Action Research: Development of Reading Literacy at Secondary School

The thesis deals with the development of reading literacy in lower secondary education (according to the international classification ISCED 2). It is divided into a theoretical and a research part. The theoretical part of the thesis defines reading literacy as an important competence for life in society, describes its individual components, its problematic position in the curriculum documents of Czech education and appropriate methods for its development. The research part of the thesis contains a description of the action research. The aim of the research is to improve the reading literacy of selected pupils at secondary school. First, we conducted an observation, a questionnaire survey to identify attitude to reading, and a pretest to determine students' reading literacy levels. Then, we designed intervention methods, implemented them and evaluated them. The research shows that regular and systematic inclusion of RWCT methods and reading workshops leads to the development of reading skills and a attitude to reading, especially it forms an inner need to read, creates reading habits and supports sharing reading experiences with each other. Introduction of teacher-parent-pupil consultations in primary school

The Master's thesis entitled "Implementation of Parent-Teacher-Student Consultations in Primary Education" focuses on the systematic reflection during the implementation of consultations among teachers, parents, and students. The author, in the theoretical part, examines the relationship between the family and the school, along with their collaboration, taking into account the historical development of these institutions. An important aspect is also the exploration of the impact of feedback on students and the positive effects of this interaction on their education and personal growth. In the practical part of the thesis, the author, in the role of a teacher and an active participant, evaluates each cycle of consultations with the aim of advancing her professional development. Through action research, she observes the evolution of her own practice in implementing tripartite consultations. Research questions are posed, and the author reflects on her progress and acquired knowledge through a pedagogical diary. The Integrated Teaching of Czech Language in Lower Secondary Schools

This thesis deals with the topic of integrated teaching of Czech language in lower secondary School. Its aim was to find out the possibilities and limits of the implementation of this teaching. The data were collected through action research at Na Rohu1 Primary School where the author of this thesis taught three eighth grades' classes for whole year. For more than a year she designed lessons for these classes based on the principles of integration of the components of the Czech language, constructivism, and the communicative principle. These are documented and reflected in this thesis. A secondary goal of this thesis was to observe the possibilities of conducting independent action research in mainstream settings and at a regular elementary school where it could become a means of professional development for teachers. The theoretical part of this thesis is based on the chapters dealing with the mapping of different conceptions of Czech language teaching and the current situation in the Czech Republic and abroad. The diploma thesis focuses on project-based learning and its implementation in the 4th grade of primary school. The theoretical part deals with creation of project-based learning and its definition. Continues to describe the main features and characteristics, summarises the benefits, highlights the pitfalls that may arise and how to prevent them. In the last section, the characteristics of the younger school-age child are presented and summarized. Use of project method in forest kindergartens

The topic of the thesis is the question of the project method. The aim of the thesis is to describe the potential of the project method and to research the use in pedagogical practise in forest kindergartens. The theoretical part defines the term project, presents the historical and theoretical contexts associated with the creation of the project method, and presents practical procedures for creating projects. The next part of the thesis describes the model of cooperative learning and provides information related to the application of cooperative teaching in pedagogical practice. The thesis describes the concept of forest kindergartens, where the research was carried out. A mixed approach was applied in the practical part. The results of the quantitative research, carried out by a questionnaire survey among teachers, showed that teachers in forest kindegartens include the project method in a targeted manner. They see the main benefits in the overall development of the child's personality. The barriers are time management, team cooperation, and lack of skills in cooperative teaching. The thesis deals with self-evaluation of pupils at the secondary school. The goal was to describe concept of self-evaluation in relation to school assessment and to introduce self-assessment into health education classes in 6th grades at secondary school. The research included designing and applying several techniques of self-evaluation at the secondary school and then describing and reflecting on the whole process. The theoretical part focuses on the evaluation of pupils at school, including the analysis of current curriculum documents and legislation. Furthermore, the elements that support the student's learning are described here. The last part of the theoretical part deals with self- evaluation. It defines the term self-evaluation and describes the effects of self-assessment on the student and also includes a presentation of various self-assessment techniques. The practical part was realized as an action research. It describes the process of implementing of self-evaluation, including overcoming minor obstacles that arose during the research. The thesis The Possibilities of Bibliotherapy in the Development of Communication Skills of Young School-Age Children with Symptomatic Speech Disorder deals with the question whether bibliotherapy can be used in the educational process as one of the methods for developing communication skills. The work is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical one focuses on the characteristics of the younger school age and language development in this period in order to better understand the issue of symptomatic speech disorders. Possible deviations in language development which lead to this impairment of communication ability are explained. The paper also describes brief characteristics of symptomatic speech disorders in children with intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment and ADHD. Finally, specific recommendations appropriate when communicating with students suffering from communication disorders are provided. Furthermore, the theoretical part summarizes the findings in the field of bibliotherapy and its possible use with younger school-age children.
